San Francisco District Attorney’s Office releases surveillance video in Banko Brown shooting

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office on Monday released a declination report that included the Walgreens surveillance video showing the moment that the store’s security guard fatally shot Banko Brown.

In addition to making the surveillance video of the incident public, the declination report provides more details behind the district attorney’s decision to not file charges in the case, including civilian cell phone video, police reports and a video and transcript of the police interview with Walgreens security guard Michael Earl-Wayne Anthony.

District Attorney Brook Jenkins announced two weeks ago that the 33-year-old Anthony, would not be

Plaintiff Wants to Mention Stow Case During Trial of Fan Beating Suit

Attorneys for a man suing the Dodgers for alleged lax security that caused him to be beaten by a pair of patrons inside Dodger Stadium in 2018 wanted to tell jurors about the 2011 beating of Bryan Stow, despite opposition from the Dodgers’ lawyers.

Plaintiff Milton Flores alleges the team provided inadequate security and a lack of uniformed Los Angeles police officers the night he was assailed by two other men inside Dodger Stadium during an extra-inning playoff game. His Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit names as defendants Los Angeles Dodgers LLC and the two alleged attackers, Robert and Jaime

Family sues Independence, officers over police shooting

A federal lawsuit has been filed against two Independence police officers and the City of Independence in the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Tyrea Pryor, attorneys of the family announced at a Thursday press conference.

The attorneys contending for officers should have never fired their weapons at Pryor the night of March 11, 2022, and displayed reckless, excessive use of force by doing so. The city is also being sued since the officers are considered employees of Independence. But the family’s legal team said they would amend the complaint if documents revealed that the city had also been negligent in overseeing

Mike Bradbury tells stories from his years as Ventura County DA

After being helped on stage at the Museum of Ventura County, Mike Bradbury talked about the time he helped stop a plot to disgrace the Reagan White House.

In front of a packed house dotted with retired police chiefs, judges and prosecutors, the 81-year-old former district attorney told story after story – about the time Charles Manson was prosecuted in Ventura County before being accused of mass murder, the day Bradbury tried to “choke out” an accused rapist and about serving a record 24 years as Ventura County’s top prosecutor.

“No one else wanted the job,” joked Bradbury, once considered

Judge called Trump’s “bluff” during E. Jean Carroll trial: Ex-US attorney

Former US Attorney Joyce White Vance on Sunday said she felt that the judge presiding over the civil trial against former President Donald Trump did the “smart thing” by calling Trump’s “bluff.”

Vance made the comments on MSNBC while discussing the trial for the lawsuit brought by writer E. Jean Carroll against Trump. Carroll is suing Trump over allegations that he defamed her character when he denied sexually assaulting her in a department store dressing room in the mid-1990s, including insulting her appearance. Trump has denied any wrongdoing in connection with the rape and defamation allegations made by Carroll in

Supreme Court blocks execution of Oklahoma death row inmate

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Friday blocked the execution of an Oklahoma death row inmate who claims he is innocent in an unusual case in which the state’s attorney general agreed that the underlying conviction was unsound.

The court in a brief order granted the request made by inmate Richard Glossip, who was convicted of managing the murder of his boss at the Oklahoma City motel where he worked.

The decision means that Glossip’s execution, scheduled for May 18, will no longer go ahead while his court challenge continues. The state has stopped short of saying Glossip is not

No ‘smoking gun’ in Marvin Gaye case: Ed Sheeran’s lawyer

Ed Sheeran’s attorney turned up the volume in her closing arguments Tuesday — charging there is no “smoking gun” in the copyright lawsuit accusing her client of copying Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get it On.”

“Simply put: the plaintiff’s ‘smoking gun’ was shooting blanks,” attorney Ilene Farkas said in Manhattan federal court. “Their confession is nothing more, nothing less.”

Farkas’ rebuttal came after attorneys for the heirs of the late Ed Townsend – who co-wrote the 1973 R&B classic with Gaye – revealed what they said was their “smoking gun” in the copyright suit against Sheeran.
