WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court said Wednesday that Illinois can, for now, keep in place a new law that bars the sale of certain semiautomatic guns and large-capacity magazines.

The high court denied an emergency request from people challenging the law, which banned so-called assault weapons. The law’s opponent had asked the court to put the law on hold while a court challenge continued. The court did not comment and publicly dissented no justice.

A man shot to death in Wichita County by law enforcement personnel over the weekend appeared intoxicated and made suicidal statements during the incident, according to a report filed with the state.

The suspect in a fatal mall shooting in Allen, Texas, that left eight dead and several others identified Saturday has been learned by law enforcement sources, Fox News Digital has learned.

Records obtained by Fox News Digital indicate the suspect is 33-year-old Mauricio Martinez Garcia of Dallas, Texas.

The suspect’s age, address, and vehicle match the description of the law enforcement details provided.

The suspect’s last known address is approximately 30 miles south of the shooting at Allen Premium Outlets in Dallas, Texas, and appears to be the Budget Suites of America.
