Dallas mall shooting: Texas law enforcement identify suspected shooter as Mauricio Garcia

The suspect in a fatal mall shooting in Allen, Texas, that left eight dead and several others identified Saturday has been learned by law enforcement sources, Fox News Digital has learned.

Records obtained by Fox News Digital indicate the suspect is 33-year-old Mauricio Martinez Garcia of Dallas, Texas.

The suspect’s age, address, and vehicle match the description of the law enforcement details provided.

The suspect’s last known address is approximately 30 miles south of the shooting at Allen Premium Outlets in Dallas, Texas, and appears to be the Budget Suites of America.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told Dallas’ WFAA served in the US Army but was removed because of mental health concerns.

Multiple FBI agents reported to a home in the Northeast Patrol division of Dallas, with several Dallas Police officers standing outside on Sunday. Multiple sources say the home is where the suspected 30-something-year-old shooter lives with his parents. A Facebook page that appeared to be connected to his father was removed Sunday.

The agents were reportedly speaking with the family inside the house. A translator was reportedly requested by the family.

FBI agents also joined police Sunday morning to search the suspect’s home, where neighbors said he had lived for years.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas DPS, and Allen police for comment.

Multiple law enforcement agencies contacted by Fox News Digital – including Texas DPS and the FBI’s Dallas field office – would not comment on the suspect’s possible motivations.

FBI Dallas told Fox News Digital it is working with Texas DPS, the Texas Rangers, Allen police, and the ATF on the investigation.

“We can confirm that the FBI was present at two locations in Dallas,” the bureau said. “FBI Dallas is devoting available resources to include investigative, intelligence, digital forensics, and victim services personnel among others.”
