BC Law Rises 8 Spots to No. 29 in US News & World Report’s 2023–24 Law School Rankings — The Heights

Boston College Law School rose to No. 29 in the US News & World Report’s 2023–24 law school rankings, an eight-spot increase from last year.

“In the US News & World Reports 2024 edition of the Best Graduate Schools released this morning, BC Law has moved up eight spots to #29,” a BC Law Magazine article reads. “The School also ranked among the top 30 in several categories in the publication’s specialty rankings, landing at #16 in tax and #27 in both Contracts/Commercial Law and in Business Corporate Law.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s securities fraud trial to wait until end of impeachment trial

HOUSTON (AP) — Embattled Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s years-delayed trial on securities fraud charges will have to wait until his separate impeachment trial is concluded, lawyers and the judge in the case said Thursday.

During the brief court hearing in Houston that was attended by Paxton, his lawyers asked state District Judge Andrea Beall to delay any decision on setting a trial date until the attorney general’s impeachment trial, set to begin Sept. 5, is finished. Dan Cogdell, one of Paxton’s attorneys, said he expects the impeachment trial to last a couple of weeks.

Free Consent under the Indian Contract Act, 1872: Everything you need to know

To call a contract valid, the parties must consent to it freely and voluntarily. The principle of consensus-ad-idem is followed meaning the contracting parties must mean something in the same sense.  The contracting parties must have an identical understanding in regards to the contents of the contract.

NY Appellate Court Affirms Lower Court Finding of SEQRA Violation for Minor Lot Subdivision

In 1994, John Reeve and Sandra Reeve (the “Reeves”) acquired property in the Town of Riverhead (the “Subject Property”). Subsequently, in 2013, the Reeves constructed a dock, ramps, and floats on a portion of the Subject Property, following the issuance of building permits and a certificate of occupancy. However, the petitioners appealed against the legality of the permits, leading the Town of Riverhead Zoning Board of Appeals (the “ZBA”) to declare the construction unauthorized. In response to the illegal construction ruling, the Reeves submitted the Application
