Gabe Whisnant named executive editor of Greenville News, Gannett SC publications

Gabe Whisnant has been named executive editor of the Greenville News, Spartanburg Herald-Journal and Anderson Independent Mail.

Mark Russell, executive editor of The Commercial Appeal in Memphis and South regional deputy editor for News parent company Gannett, announced the hire Wednesday, March 29.

As executive editor, Whisnant will also direct three Gannett weekly publications in SC’s Lowcountry – Bluffton Today, the Hampton County Guardian and the Jasper County Sun Times.

Gannett’s SC publications comprise 23 journalists who serve the Palmetto State for Gannett, which owns more than 250 daily newspapers across the United States.

SANTA FE, NM (KRQE) – Bill by bill, New Mexico has been changing legal protections for individuals involved in gender-affirming, reproductive, and abortion-related healthcare. Wednesday, April 5, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed another law aimed at adding protections.

Senate Bill 13, sponsored by Democratic legislators, prohibits public agencies and workers from providing patient information to people seeking civil or criminal punishment for accessing gender-affirming or reproductive healthcare. INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Attorneys for the man charged with the Delphi murders want him moved to a new facility, citing filed an emergency motion to have him moved to a new prison.

Richard Allen’s lawyers filed the emergency request in Carroll Circuit Court on Wednesday.

The request cites “dramatic change in Mr. Allen’s condition, including his change in demeanor, change in appearance and change in his overall mental status.”

The motion includes a photo of Allen that the defense says was taken April 4 at the prison, which his attorneys claim proves that his “physical condition is deteriorating rapidly.”
